Dagmar Larsen (Larsen)
Dagmar Madeline Larsen was born on June 28, 1912 daughter of Lars Peter and Anna Eleanor (Larsen) on a farm north of Ringsted. She departed this earth on September 28th , 2016, at Avera Holy Family Hospital at the age of 104 and 3 months.
She was baptized and confirmed at St John’s Lutheran Church, Ringsted and was a member there until it closed. Dagmar attended Ringsted High School and graduated in 1931. After graduation she attended beauty school in Des Moines and after completion she worked at various salons in the Ringsted area, including the one at the Gardston Hotel in Estherville. After several years she returned to Ringsted and worked for Dr. Kierkegaard. Dagmar told of helping with tonsillectomies in his office. In 1943 she moved to Minneapolis and lived with her sister, Thyra, and worked on the production line for Honeywell and later in the office. Dagmar commented that they wore dresses, nylons and heels while working on the line. She retired from Honeywell in 1976 and at that time moved to her home in Ringsted and lived there until the age of 102. She then moved to Spring Creek Assisted Living in Armstrong until her death.
Dagmar enjoyed going uptown Ringsted for coffee and playing 6 5 4, but couldn't go everyday as she wouldn't get her work done! Dagmar marveled often on all the changes she had witnessed in her 100+ years. She was a beautiful seamstress making most of her clothes as well as items for family members. She was proud of her appearance and people commented often on that, as well as how amazing she was at taking care of herself and her home. She loved her family and enjoyed when they would all be together. She was the caretaker of anyone in her family who needed it. She was especially happy to re-connect with her dad's family -some living in Florida, Denmark and England and enjoyed their visits here to see her.
Left to remember Dagmar are her nieces and nephews and their families- Andrew Clark, Miami, AZ, Earl Dean (Bonnie) Larsen, East Chain, MN, Donna (Bob) Butterfield, Mpls., Mn , David (Becky) Larsen, Swea City, Mark (Anita) Larsen, Roslyn (Jay) Gunderson, Jim (Barb) Miller, all of Ringsted and Monty (Lana) Miller, Armstrong, along with many good friends. Dagmar was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Nels, Andrew, Earl and Harold and her sisters Signe Clark, Thyra Shoemaker and Martha Miller and their spouses.
Dagmar will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
In accordance with Dagmar's wishes family graveside services will be held at a later date.
