Obituary for Kenneth "Kenny" Pilquist

Kenneth "Kenny" Pilquist

Kenneth Eugene Pilquist, the son of Leonard and Constance (Iverson) Pilquist, was born September 21, 1930 in Ruthven, Iowa. He died Thursday, April 6, 2017 at Avera Holy Family Hospital in Estherville, Iowa at the age of 86.

He graduated from Ruthven High School. Kenny served in the Army during the Korean Conflict. Following his honorable discharge he returned to the area.

On August 8, 1959 he was united in marriage to Ardis Larson at the Presbyterian Church. His first job in Estherville was at Woodley's Hatchery and Pet Shop. Later he went to work at Kent Feeds in 1967 and was employed there until his retirement in 1991. In his leisure time Kenny enjoyed gardening, genealogy, model trains, and staying current online. His greatest pleasure was spending time with family and friends.

He was a member of First Presbyterian Church and a lifetime member of VFW Post 3388.

Left to cherish Kenny's memory are his wife, Ardis of Estherville; children, Steve Pilquist, Alan (Tresa) Pilquist, their children, Kyle and Danielle, Connie (Richard) Ripley, their children, Jordan, Karalee and Macy, Jim (Joyana) Pilquist, their children A.J. and Maddie; three great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Preceding Kenny in death were his parents, sister, and baby brother.
