Obituary for Merlin "Mokey" Twito

Merlin "Mokey" Twito
Merlin C. "Mokey" Twito the son of Bert and Tena (Nelson) Twito was born September 12, 1928 on a farm near Wallingford. He graduated from Estherville High School in 1946. He died on Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at the Good Samaritan Society in Estherville, Iowa at the age of 89.

On June 3, 1956 he was united in marriage to Marlene Juhl at the First Presbyterian Church in Estherville. The couple made their home on a farm near Terril, farming and raising cattle. In 1998, they moved to Arnold's Park.

Mokey was a member of the Wallingford Lutheran Church. He had a soft spot for animals, but his true passion was raising his cows. In his younger years, he really enjoyed playing fast pitch softball and has always enjoyed watching sports, especially the Hawkeyes.

Left to cherish Mokey's memory are his wife, Marlene of Arnolds Park; children: Terry Twito of Estherville; Cindy (Matt) Mickelson of Peoria, Arizona and their children Emily and Tyler; Connie (Jim) Early of Milford, Iowa and their children Lauren and Drew. Mokey is also survived by her sister LaVonne Vandewalle of Estherville and his nieces and nephews.

Mokey is preceded in death by his parents and his infant daughter Julie Ann Twito.
