Obituary for Gene Yackle

Gene Yackle
Gene R. Yackle the son of George and Maude (Mooney) Yackle was born November 21, 1936, south of Dolliver, Iowa, in Lincoln Township and departed this life on Thursday, January 18, 2018 at the Fairmont Medical Center at the age of 81 years.

He received his education in Dolliver school, graduating from Dolliver High School in 1954. Gene served in the National Guard for four years.

On July 11, 1954 he was united in marriage to Lois Zwiefel at the United Methodist Church in Dolliver. Following their marriage, the couple made their home in rural Dolliver. Lois passed away on May 27, 2008. Gene continued to farm after her passing. Gene married Annette (Herum) Wenzel on June 6, 2009 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Gene retired from farming in 2012.

He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Ceylon.

Left to cherish Gene's memory is his wife, Annette of Ceylon; his children, Randy Yackle of Fairmont; Debra Yackle of Fairmont (Darwin Krenz), and Kelly Yackle of Cordova, Illinois; his stepchildren, Dean Wenzel of Ceylon (Kelly Hilpipre), Darlene (Gary) Holmseth of Blue Earth, Steve Wenzel of Mankato (MerriDee Shamski), and Kent (Renee) Wenzel of Mankato; seven step-grandchildren; and two step-greatgrandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Shirley O'Sell of Dolliver; special friends, Jenny (Hunt) Blankenship and Matt Carney and their families.

He has been preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Lois; his daughter, Deanne; his brothers, George, Howard, Floyd; and his sisters, Ruby Rowan, Thelma Calvin, Ardys Hatcher, LaRue Swipes, and Velda Johnson.
